Roller garage doors – the compact solution

Kategorie

There are many types of garage doors on the market, so everyone can choose something that meets their requirements and fits the overall garage. Customers have different requirements – some focus on safety and quality of workmanship, others on functionality and minimalist aesthetics. A roller shutter is a great compromise for both sides, combining many convenient alternatives.

What are roller shutters?

One of the more convenient and functional types of doors is the roller shutter door, sometimes also referred to as a roller door. They are high-quality and comfortable. Thanks to their technological design, they take up very little space in the garage. They have an electric opening as standard, and a crank for manual opening as a backup in case of a power failure.

Roller doors are usually made of aluminium profiles and slats. They often have a rubber seal at the bottom edge to prevent the wind from entering and to seal the gap between the door and the ground. The side edges are also sealed so that the closed gate is airtight. This definitely saves energy on heating the room. The gate segments are also insulated for even greater thermal insulation.

The door rolls up into a box that can be placed inside or outside the building, if necessary also in the opening of the door (in this case it does not extend beyond the wall, which can be a sensible solution for high openings). The boxes are usually aesthetically made and protected against dirt and damage.

Why have roller shutters become so popular?

Roller garage doors are extremely versatile. They do not require much space, they can be installed in small spaces, and at the same time they do not clutter up the rooms, because the whole mechanism is relatively small. They are safe to use because they do not restrict visibility in any way when leaving the garage. They can be opened as standard using a remote control, push button or key switch. The structural components ensure a high level of heat and sound insulation.

On special request, often from various service-specialised companies, roller doors can be perforated to create a theme-related pattern that will catch the attention of potential customers. In addition, they can be fitted with glazed elements to allow more light in. The glass in these openings is made of resistant plastic. Ventilation grilles can also become an important element, preventing the inside from getting stuffy. Another additional element is a light integrated into the gate that turns on when it is opened.

The most important features of a roller shutter

Roller doors can be installed in various openings – rectangles, arches or semicircles finishing gables are no problem. An additional advantage is the possibility to choose the colour, pattern, surface (matt or glossy). Those with a wood motif are becoming popular as they look very natural.

This type of gate is very durable, sturdy and proven. It can be installed indoors or outdoors. It is an ideal choice for high openings, for example in car workshops and production halls, but it is also suitable for home garages. However, it should be noted that these gates are vulnerable to burglars even if they have additional anti-theft protection. However, additional equipment significantly reduces the chances of theft and burglary.

It used to be quite an expensive solution. Nowadays, it is much cheaper, also depending on the additional equipment.
