The most modern system is the HST lift and slide door system, which is currently used for terrace doors. The main advantage of this solution is the lack of a threshold on the inside and a gentle two-centimetre slope towards the outside. In addition, this system offers the possibility of using really large glazing, which has become very fashionable in recent years.
The width of the door can be up to 6.5 metres and its height up to 2.3 metres, with a passage width of up to 3 metres! With such dimensions, the doors slide smoothly, easily and quietly, which is their unquestionable advantage. The HST system is often used in passive buildings, where large glazing guarantees sufficient sunlight to heat the interior of the house. Sliding windows and doors are becoming increasingly popular in Poland due to their functionality and modern appearance. In addition, this solution saves space in the room, as it does not require additional space for opening the leaves, which facilitates interior design. Sliding systems allow for large and heavy door leaves, which, thanks to the use of special guides, are extremely light to slide. Even children can easily handle them.
In addition, they are characterised by a very low threshold, which in the case of classic swing doors was a significant obstacle, especially for elderly people with limited mobility or people with disabilities. Nowadays, the threshold can be almost flush with the floor inside the room, which looks very elegant and is practical and functional. Modern technologies also apply to window opening methods, which have been constantly changing over the years. Horizontal pivot windows are a novelty, with a permissible sash weight of up to 200 kg. This allows for the production of large windows that can be opened comfortably. They are used in attics and as an alternative to traditional windows. If the location of the window prevents it from being fully opened by swinging the sash out, it is worth choosing a horizontal axis of rotation.
This allows the window to be tilted, fully opened or rotated for cleaning. What is important is that the design of such a window does not differ at first glance from classic solutions, therefore they do not require special approvals from housing associations, for example.
