It is probably obvious that windows are one of the most important structural elements of a building. They fulfil several important tasks. First of all, they allow a view of the outside and provide natural light to living spaces. However, their presence determines heat loss, which is why the second task they should fulfil is high-quality tightness. Windows also have an aesthetic function. There are unusual window constructions on the market. One of them is a revolving window. Let’s find out what they are and what advantages they have.
Pivot windows are structures that have a longitudinal axis along which they can be opened halfway or near the centre of the frame. This axis is parallel to the vertical or horizontal edge of the window frame. They can be installed in the walls of a building, but by far their most popular application is in the roof. Pivot roof windows are the most common type of roof window. They come in two variants, which differ in the way they open. The first is a tilting window. It can open up to 35-45 degrees. The second type of windows can be rotated more. They can rotate up to 180 degrees.
Pivot windows provide a lot of light in the room, as well as a high degree of ventilation. Another advantage is that they are installed in the roof slope, i.e. at a higher height, and above all, at an angle. This parameter allows them to collect a huge amount of light rays. With the right permeability coefficient, roof slope pivot windows can be used for passive construction. They convert light rays into thermal energy, which in turn eliminates the need for additional heating and saves money. The use of such windows in the attic is therefore practical and functional, as well as economical and energy-efficient. Read also:What are swivelling windows?
