Useful window accessories for your home

Kategorie

Both doors and windows are elements without which it is impossible to imagine the functioning of any building. However, sometimes they absorb our attention until they are installed, and then we forget about them. Often we do not even realize that there are accessories that can significantly improve their operational quality, improving not only the aesthetics but also the comfort of use.

Mounting accessories

Mounting accessories for windows allow, on the one hand, to properly seal windows, and on the other hand to protect them from moisture. They are also helpful in precise finishing of window joinery during its installation. Among window accessories, we can mention, among others:

  • window strips for window frames – they protect against wind and insulate the installed frame, ensuring thermal and acoustic comfort. They are used indoors and are made of PVC;
  • window strips with mesh mounted (sewn in) – are an element thanks to which you can achieve an even, clean and aesthetic finish of the plaster around the window frame inside the room. They are laid before plastering. There are also external window strips with mesh, for finishing the frame and improving thermal insulation around the window;
  • a latch for balcony doors – this is a solution that allows you to use your balcony or terrace with the window doors closed without the risk of the so-called door banging. For greater convenience, it is worth installing it together with a handle that allows you to close and open the door from the outside. There are two types of balcony latches available: with a fixed post, or with a movable post, which requires opening the double window sashes using a handle.
  • The latches are mounted in the frame to prevent uncontrolled opening and slamming of the door during, for example, drafts, which could damage the glass, hinges or frame. The latch, which is adapted to most balcony doors, consists of two parts. The first, mounted on the window frame, is the so-called frame part, and the second one (roller) mounted on the sash part.
  • wedges – help level and stabilize the windows in the window opening. The use of wedges allows for easier installation and, above all, precise execution.
  • window anchors – steel flat bars with projections and holes, which are used to attach the window frame to the wall.
  • window air vents – are mounted in the window sash (usually in the upper frame) to improve ventilation in rooms in a controlled manner when the windows are closed.

Window handles

Handles, like the balcony handle, help to open and close window sashes or balcony doors in a way that is safe for windows. In order to increase the level of security, you can install a window handle with a lock that prevents the door from being opened from the outside. This is quite effective anti-burglary protection. Correctly closing the window with a handle seals it, preventing heat from escaping to the outside. By setting the handle in the unsealed position (diagonally), it is also possible to ventilate the rooms without fully opening the window.

Opening restrictors

A window opening restrictor allows you to keep an open or tilted window sash in a constant, desired opening and limits the maximum opening angle. It also ensures stability when opening the window, and protects the blocked sash from the effects of drafts.

Comb window restrictors are available, allowing for multi-stage adjustment of the window opening, as well as a universal restrictor with one stabilizing point.

Seals

Window seals allow you to maintain appropriate thermal insulation. When choosing seals, remember to choose the right thickness that will be optimal for your needs. Typically, available seals are 6 or 8 mm thick, and simple assembly (thanks to the self-adhesive tape) allows you to mount the seal yourself.
