HST windows, what are they?

Modern construction is characterised by simple building shapes and large glazed areas. Large windows are designed to firstly harness solar energy to heat the interior of the house and secondly to create an amazing visual effect. Large glass surfaces are particularly common in living rooms and are usually directed towards the terrace and garden. Due to the large dimensions of the windows, or rather terrace doors, they had to be made using a different technology than the traditional one. This is how HST windows, or lift and slide windows, were created to meet modern trends. They allow for the creation of truly impressive glazing sizes up to 6.5 metres wide and 2.7 metres high, with individual sashes up to 3 metres wide! The HST window has a sliding sash and a fixed sash, positioned parallel to each other. Opening is done by moving the movable sash behind the fixed sash. Despite its large dimensions and weight, opening and closing the window is extremely smooth and easy for any household member. The sash moves on a rail hidden in the floor and special rollers enable its smooth and quiet operation. The HST window can be tilted by stopping and lowering it at any time using the handle. The mechanism can be equipped with an electric drive, which will additionally increase the comfort of use, and the fittings can have a micro-ventilation function.

Why choose HST windows?

There are many advantages of sliding systems, including HST windows, hence their growing popularity among investors. First of all, it should be noted that this is the only way to make large-format windows. With such a large glass surface, the weight of a single sash is too heavy for a traditional side-hung window system. Despite their size, HST windows are very easy to use and do not feel heavy at all when sliding. Another very important feature of HST windows is that they have no threshold, which can be almost completely flush with the floor. This is very important information for people who could be hindered in their daily activities at home by any architectural barriers.

Another thing that users notice is the free space in front of the window, which is no longer taken up by open leaves, as is the case with traditional patio doors. This removes the limits on interior design and the space appears more transparent and harmonious. Modern HST sliding systems are characterised by negligible heat loss, despite large glass surfaces. The right amount and size of noble gas-filled chambers, 3-pane low-emission packages and specialised sealing systems for all joints ensure that HST windows guarantee a high level of thermal insulation. It is worth noting that the condition for comfortable use is professional installation of windows and patio doors, which is why it is not worth doing it on your own, but to outsource it to professionals.
