Pivot windows in Poland are mainly found as roof windows. They are a convenient alternative to tilt windows because they can be easily cleaned from both sides. They can be controlled by remote control in case they are in hard-to-reach places. They come in different heights.
The popularity of façade windows
Pivot windows are most commonly found in Scandinavian countries, although they can also be a good solution in Poland. Like roof windows, they are easy to maintain and do not require you to go outside. They are perfect for places where they cannot be opened wide. Their axis of rotation can also vary – they can be located in the centre of the window or extend beyond the window on outriggers and rotate around the axis formed by the arm.
Both types of windows have additional features, often necessary for safety and comfort (child lock, UV filter in the glass).
Types of pivot windows
Pivot windows can have a pivot point in different places and use different technologies:
- Classic revolving windows – rotate 180 degrees and the axis of rotation is in the centre of the window.
- High-axis revolving windows – great for letting in light and air. Even tall people can reach the edge of this type of window, which has the pivot point at the top.
- High pivot point with lower skylight – similar to the above, but with an additional fixed part that offers a wider field of vision.
- Tilt and turn – allows free access to both sides of the window and a large viewing angle.
- Panoramic – large size, allows access to the roof. Tilt and turn opening for easy maintenance.
Modern architectural solutions are becoming increasingly popular, so let’s ask ourselves: when can pivot windows be used?
Choosing a pivot window
Pitched roof windows are a common sight, they are convenient and functional, which is why they are often chosen by architects. The choice of the right window is dictated by the angle of the roof, but also by the needs of the users. The roof pitch for a pivot window is in the range of 15-90 degrees, for tilt and turn windows it is only 15-60 degrees, and for high windows it is only 20-65 degrees. Highly installed windows remain out of reach for children, allow for easy ventilation of rooms, and let in a lot of natural light in places where classic windows cannot be placed on the walls. Thanks to the fact that they move along a horizontal axis, pivot windows influence the air movement, which is facilitated – warm air from the room escapes upwards to the outside, and cooler air from outside enters the house from below.
Rotating facade windows are rare in our country, although they remain functional. They are often found with smaller windows below, which facilitate the movement of air in the room. They are still a convenient washing solution, as they do not require going outside, which can be beneficial in the case of tall buildings. In addition, they have a lot of room to move even when they are not able to turn a full 180 degrees. This also allows you to choose which side the air should come in from. Nowadays, design solutions are worth their weight in gold, and architects are eager to use them to distinguish their projects, gain customers and satisfy the high demands of consumers. This is an idea that is only just entering our market, which can help you stand out from other companies.
