Mist on windows does not always mean structural defects. In most cases, this phenomenon is related to excessive humidity in the flat or too much temperature variation on either side of the glass pane.
Mist on windows from the inside
If you have noticed condensation on the inside of the window, the main reason for this is excessive humidity inside the flat. This can be caused by faulty ventilation. To improve the air circulation in the flat, it is worth investing in air vents or leak sealants. It is also worth simply ventilating the flat by opening the window a crack.
Exterior condensation on windows
The phenomenon of windows fogging up from the outside is most common in transitional periods – in winter or autumn. This process is mainly influenced by temperature and humidity. Large temperature drops and the lack of or limited heating during this period leads to condensation on the windows.
Steam on the inside of the window pane
If the inside of the window pane is steaming up, this is a serious problem. This is caused by the window losing its airtight seal. In other words, the window has lost its thermal insulation and is no longer functioning properly.
